They, the ‘Iron Men’ as almost everyone calls them, were certainly not here before 2005 and, whilst it would be nice to believe that they suddenly and mysteriously arrived in July of that year, unbidden and unannounced, truth is that their arrival and subsequent occupation of the Waterloo and Crosby foreshores involved many local shenanigans, some of which are covered in Wikipedia here.
